Vijay Singh has shown that hours of hard work and perserverance can pay off when he claimed the number 1 spot in golf this week. Tiger had held it for 264 weeks in spite of Vijay already topping him on the money list a while back. I always liked Vijay's work ethic and even the pro's are awed by the time he spends on the driving range when he is not on the course. I read somewhere that he works out for three hours, seven days a week.
Will be fun to see if this finally sparks Tiger into playing back at his top level. I have thought for a while that he has so much money that he has lost the edge he started with. Now that he has been proven human he has also lost a lot of that pyschological edge he always had with the competition.
Of course Vijay no longer needs the money either (he has won over USD25M in his career) and like all top sportspeople these days I always wonder what they do with their money that they have to keep going out to play ? Is it the thrill of winning or the lure of memmon that keeps them going ? Is the thrill of winning not a form of self worship ?
What do you think folks about this big business called sport and where does it sit in God's kingdom ?
