Good or Bad Decision

I was pleased when I saw that Singapore has banned human cloning:

SINGAPORE (Reuters) -- Singapore banned human cloning on Thursday and said offenders would face 10 years in jail to prevent "abhorrent experiments."

But disappointed when I read on that they are allowing something they call therapeutic cloning:

But in keeping with Singapore's relatively liberal attitude towards human stem cell research, the legislation allows therapeutic cloning, or the creation of cloned embryos for the purpose of harvesting stem cells.

What is worse cloning and allowing an embryo to go full term or killing it after 14 days ? There is a sad irony working here to my way of thinking. I cannot personally agree with this anymore than I can abortion in spite of what some members of the medical profession tell us. Considering the fact that scientists are not generally known to believe in creation but tend toward big bang and evolutionary theory I wonder where their ethicists draw from when examining this issue ?

We are very fortunate God wasn't a research scientist following some guidelines or instead of resting on day seven he would have destroyed it all. Even when he got fed up he saved some embryos in the form of Noah and his family to allow us to start again. Then later he gave us his own son whom we promptly destroyed.

No God wasn't that sort of scientist......
