Wearing Your Colours ?

Curious one from Scott, I don't necessarily feel overpaid if I wear a branded shirt, perhaps if I worked for Ralph Lauren I might. What do you think ?

Random Thoughts

Listening to Neil Young singimg Old Man drinking red wine and coffee and thinking the world is not that bad as a whole. Applied for three jobs today. Had a BCC chopped out Monday by a funny old doctor. After much difficulty upgraded Dear to Leopard. In one easy go migrated to the 64 bit version of Vista. Had a serene Sunday start listening to a christian radio station while taking Petra and Mark to the Airport as well as  a quick prayer. Now moved onto James Taylor. Played trains with Declan. Tossed and turned most nights for the last week. Time for some Van the Man.

Went to the races Saturday and Japanese after but missed the kids in spite of enjoying the time as a couple.

Enjoying Enterprise and wishing I could easily get the series.

Seeing the Ocean as I drive close to home and thinking how lucky I am and how wonderful God is with his creations.

Moved onto Yellow Brick Road and wondering where the last 10 years evaporated.

Remembering where most of them went

Dear is unhappy with the volume.

Forget how much I like music.

Have so much to be thankful for it is easy to be ungrateful.

Daily Dilbert

Am sure many of us resonate with this in today's resource stripped corporate environments. Getting ready to go on leave can be more stressful than being at work, a reason many have extensive leave in the bank in Oz where they cannot take it away from you. I am a great example but the company seems to have great timing that coincides too often with our plans....

See You Soon

Heading to KL tonight for the first time since we left three weeks ago. Looking forward to seeing friends at BLC and attending worship on Sunday (hope we have communion) We have a meeting for most of the week so will be kept busy but it still feels like home there so I will be enjoying the comfort of knowing where I am and how to get around.

You would be surprised how we are finding it difficult to find our bearings in Melbourne after the time away. There has been some change of course but mostly it is that you forget the details and so take the odd wrong turn. Overall though navigation here is easier than KL so can't complain. I found the shortest way to the office after a week and now it is routine. Am sure after some more exploration I will remember all my old shortcuts.

See you on Sunday folks

Quotes for Friday

Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.
Dr. Seuss
US author & illustrator (1904 - 1991)

Remember this in your communities, if we were all able to do so we would be a lot better off.

A person's a person, no matter how small.
Dr. Seuss
US author & illustrator (1904 - 1991)

This is great as it reminds us to treat kids as people, too often the distinction between adult and child carries over to how we see their humanity. Kids are people too not pets or possessions. This could not be more obvious than when they get to little D's age where he is constantly and often to our consternation reminding us that he is another person in the house.

Crime

I heard of two separate incidents today where people I know have been robbed. One was snatched last night on her way home from work and the other had a car stolen. Only a few weeks ago one of our church members was snatched. It seems actually that every other week someone we know from work or our community is being robbed. My colleague warned me that they are running a scam at 1 Utama where they watch for people going to use the ATM at night then drive nails in your tyres. When you stop for the flat they rob you.

I am sure that this is only getting worse in the time we have been here and I really wonder what the police are doing about it. If they put as much effort into catching these guys as they do chasing VCD sellers perhaps they could arrest the problem. I have not heard of an Ops Snatcher but they have them for pirates, parking tickets and other such things.

I am really saddened by this as it causes people to live in fear, I nowadays have to warn visitors about snatch thieves and we have had visiting colleagues robbed in the Bintang area near their hotel. Perhaps it is time to light some candles outside Parliament to get them to wake up and see what is happening in this what is otherwise a lovely country.

There is Always a catch

Vendor

If the offer seems to good then it usually is folks. This is actually quite a good analogy for how the other team operates. We can ignore the irrevocably implemented part though because we have a better vendor who can remove all traces of the old system if we simply let him. Most of us though like certain parts of the old system so we don't want to let go of them. In that case we are still wearing the free t-shirt without knowing it is causing the allergies.

This a little too abstract for you ? drop me a line and we can discuss.
