Nice to head back to the Grampians again this week. So much greener than last trip and the creeks and streams are flowing making that lovely sweet music.
A
Chinese man has been charged with theft for stealing a motorcycle —
part by part over five years from the factory where he worked. ‘‘I
don’t have that much money, so I came up with the idea of taking the
parts home and assembling them on my own,’’ he said.
Reminds me of the one about the guy who worked in a hardware and evry day took home a wheelbarrow. The security guys searched high and low over the years and even took the wheel apart and xrayed the handles at times but could never find anything. When he retired they asked him to confess what he had been stealing and how he hid it all those years. He replied that he was stealing wheelbarrows.....
This characterises the Saints in 2009, Zac Dawson who as a rookie was devastated by the big forward Rocca a few years ago. He showed no fear yesterday even goading Rocca into a free kick at one point. I suggested finals early in the year and have been delighted to see us get a step closer. Go Saints !
We had a weekend away in Anglsea which is a beachside area on the Great Ocean Road. The place is called Araluen and this was our second trip but the last time was a long time ago. It was to get a better look at the Faith Incubators materials for our Sunday school. I was reluctant at first and agreed to go not to participate in learning about the materials per se but to maybe get a round of golf in. Saturday night though we all participated in a type of art attack program of which one of the results was this communal painting. Can you guess the scripture it is based on ?
I didn't do any painting but did spend a good amount of time redoing the outlines with a black texta to give it back some definition this morning. I really loved ther finsihed result of primarily the kids work and would have taken it home if I could of. Today's worship was also great with bible song instead of dry bones hymns and the prayer of the church based on things we wrote last night and spoken by each group.
I hold out hope that we can have some more creative worship in the future through introducing programs like this. Have some pics on the iPhone I will post separately. Shalom folks....
I have been following the series of short films being released by 15 Malaysia the last couple of weeks. I am not sure if they would have as much meaning for me without having lived in Kl for a while but I am truly impressed by them. Not only the quality given these are clearly low budget productions but the depth of emotions they have been able to convey. Is it coincidental that these are being released at a time when there is so much friction and hurting in the country ? I think not but rather they are an emotional outpouring from those with the creative outlet to tell the stories as they should be told.
It made me surprisingly nostalgic for Malaysia and it's multi faceted society, it angered me all over again for the lack of tolerance for those with the least, it made me laugh at the portrayal of the lengths Malaysians will go to save a ringitt and it saddened me that a father and son find themselves in that situation.
In truth these stories are to be found in every country but it is so easy to turn a blind eye when at home. I look forward to seeing all of these as they are released and pray that in some way they are taken note of and acted upon by those with the authority to make real and lasting change.
After getting the idea from a mate I decided to make a three day road trip on the bike to clear my head in between roles. Was having too much fun riding to take a lot of pics but these are where I did stop.
