DB Revisited

The song Working Class Hero was playing on my iPhone as I walked to work this morning. Not sure if I have properly listened to the lyrics before and this was the green day version not Lennon's original as it is from the Make Some Noise Save Darfur album. My background is very much working class and you might say the good old Protestant work ethic lives on in me still. There was one verse that particularly stood out in light of my recent situation.

Ball Boy

D has a new found love of kicking a ball from his kinder play time.

New Resident

Wow there is actually an owl in our front garden. That is awesome. Will get the nikon out for a better shot if he hangs around.

Easter Tea

Autumn sun, chocolate and a nice cuppa after church.

Good Friday Feast

We ate seafood in keeping with the old tradition though I confess I don't know the meaning behind it. The morning service was meaningful and did remind us of the sacrifice our Lord made for us. Particularly poignant for me this year was the monologue Jesus makes as his death draws near. The feeling of separation from the Father is the only thing that truly frightens him. Makes us think about our own sin and how without that divine intervention we would not be able to go into God's presence. For that reason Good Friday can be as much of a celebration as a period of sadness.

Thanks Lord for the good food and opportunity to be together....

Almost Bush Camping

This weekends trip was good. No electricity at the site and miles from anything so no trips to the ice cream parlour. Almost because there was running water and a hot shower albeit in very rustic surroundings. We ate well and the kids enjoyed it though I should have gone easy on the boxed red on Saturday night ! The tent stayed dry so passed that hurdle though annoyingly after waiting hours for it to look dry enough to pack this afternoon a shower came through and wet it again. Need a dry day at home now to erect it and dry it out a bit. Seems we are going to stay campers which is great.
